ABOUT RB-RENEGADE

RB (Rob) was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1996 to pursue professional (non-music related) opportunities.  For years before moving to the United States RB provided lead vocals to various bar bands performing primarily in the southern and eastern regions of Ontario. After 26 years in Boston, Massachusetts RB relocated to sunny Florida!

For years he has written songs based on real-life experiences but never had the opportunity to record any of them – until 2008, an opportunity presented itself to produce a CD.  Under the guidance of Joe Laquidara of Oak Grove Recording in Malden, Massachusetts RB released “Finding My Way” a collection of nine original songs (and one cover).  The title song was written about a chance meeting RB had with his long time inspiration Randy Travis.  A gracious Travis took the time to talk to RB and encouraged him to pursue his music.

The release of “Finding My Way” resulted in an invitation by KMA Records to visit Nashville, TN for a television taping and performance at a songwriter circle at the world-famous Nashville Palace, which just coincidently was where Randy Travis was originally discovered and launched his career.  Needless to say, having the opportunity to perform at the Nashville Palace was a “one off the bucket list” experience.  Making it even more humbling was the fact that 15 family and friends also made the trip in support.

That visit to Nashville also resulted in RB being offered the opportunity to host his own internet radio show.  Keith and Mike Bradford of KMA Records also owned the “Nashville Broadcasting Radio Network” (NBRN) producing a number of different programs running 24/7 on the internet.  RB hosted a number of different programs including “Spotlight on the Indies”; “Renegade Country”; “Cashbox Magazine Weekly Countdown”; and his most popular “Real Country Legends” which spotlighted personal interviews with the legends of country music including but not limited to Stonewall Jackson, Jean Shepard, Johnny Lee, Jan Howard among other notables (see link below to listen).

In 2009 RB was awarded the “:Best New Country Vocalist” and “Best Male Country Vocalist” by the Texas Country Music Association. Another honor for RB was the opportunity to meet with and discuss a working relationship with renown Nashville producer Larry Butler (of Kenny Rogers production fame). Unfortunately Mr. Butler passed suddenly before we were able to work together.

In 2010 RB released his follow-up CD “Second Time Around”.  He has followed that with other single releases, most notable “Let It Be Me”.
